With Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2, you get safer browsing and communication, powerful security tools, and improved experiences. Packed with multimedia features, Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 aims to unlock the full potential of your personal computer. It also looks great, with rounded window corners, larger and more detailed icons, and a clean-look desktop. Windows XP is more customizable than previous versions, including its visual themes that let you change the whole appearance of Windows in an instant. Fast User Switching is a neat feature for computers used by more than one person--it lets another user log on without killing the previous user's session, and when you switch back, running applications and open documents are as you left them. This is impressive, but what really counts is that XP understands how to deal with multiple users. Each user has their own special folders, such as My Documents, which cannot be seen by other users. This review is about the Windows XP Home Edition 2002 version OEM with service pack 1. I paid a total of $75 for this OEM version not a Dell OEM version but one that comes with a genuine Microsoft media and product key only without the certificate of authenticity. This operating system is much more... Read full review »

Pros Stable, more secure, easy to use.
Cons New theme elements and start menu can slow down older systems. Activation can be annoying.

Microsoft Windows XP is a very good OS and far better than many of Microsoft's previous Operating Systems. It is based on both Windows NT and Windows 2000. It is much more stable than Windows 95 or Win 98 or even Windows Millennium Edition. More security features and many other new thingshave been... Read full review »

If You Must Run Windows, This May Be The Best of Bad Choices

Pros A lot of software and hardware works. The "devil" users know.
Cons Cost. Poor security. Customers treated almost like crooks.
Recommended it? No

Overall, I have mixed feelings about Windows XP. I can't recommend Windows. But if one does need Windows, this is probably the best version.

First, what's wrong with Microsoft Windows? Just a few things I don't like:
-The virus problem.
-The feeling that Microsoft treats its... Read full review »
