Best OS for the masses

Pros extremely easy to install easier than Linux to manage applications and data
Cons still plagued with regular updates that aren't always beneficial.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you don't have the time to learn Linux or the applications that your livelihood depend on are slaves to Windows products then XP is THE way to go.
I'm not a huge Bill Gates fan so don't let my title fool you, I am an unwilling slave to Windows products.
However, after struggling for several days to install Fedora4 on one of my computers, I gave up and purchased my third license of Windows XP Pro.
It is the easiest to install by far. It contains most drivers and loads them automatically.
I'll qualify that by saying it has come a long way from when it was released several years ago. Early on, the system was plagued by nearly daily updates for booboos that the Microsoft system engineers had failed to address. It got even worse when they released Service Pack 2 before allowing the application/hardware vendors an opportunity to provide patches to adapt.
Well, 3 years later, I do have to say, while there are still weekly updates to contend with, I am generally satisfied with the XP operating system on my three workstations at home and since i am too lazy to learn LINUX and my CAD software is only compatible with Windows system, I have to admit I am a member of the Masses.

One thing to be aware of, is that NOT all updates are good, e.g. the same problem appears to have been created when Microsoft recently released ie7. it is bug city, I have and will avoid it for several months until MS has fixed the bugs.
