More specifically, we asked why Activision would go to all the trouble of converting this game perfectly from its arcade counterpart only to stiff gamers by not letting them program the controller? Oratorio Tangram is all about perfect control--the arcade version uses a pair of sticks that allow for all types of moves--and this Dreamcast version contains only a handful of preset controller configurations. A vehicular combat game set "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away," Star Wars Demolition is yet another embarrassingly mediocre title based on the premier sci-fi movie series. A mishmash of elements from the various Star Wars films, the laughably implausible premise here allows for disparate combatants (Boba Fett, a piloted podracer, and a Rancor, to name a few) to fight in arenas that range from inappropriate (e.g., the swampy Dagobah) to impossible (e.g., the surface of the Death Star II). It's a shame that the gameplay in Star Wars Demolition isn't even remotely as imaginative as its "what if?" fanboy scenario, as all you've got here is an uninspired regurgitation of similar games (like Vigilante 8), with clunky controls tossed in for bad measure. Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage is an action game with phenomenally good graphics but overly simplistic gameplay. You fill the shoes of the main character, Guts, and spend most of your time smiting foes with his seven-foot monster of a sword, Dragon Slayer. Some levels provide the best hack-and-slash gaming to be found anywhere, but usually Sword of the Berserk is more cheap than challenging. We certainly felt rage when boulders began falling on Guts's head at random during one level and the designers took great pains to populate most of the levels with dozens of tiny ankle-biting enemies that are nigh impossible to hit.
