SanDisk ImageMate® SDDR-91-07 Card Reader

The ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer is a single slot, Hi-Speed reader and writer that connects to your computer's USB 2.0 port. Because USB 2.0 devices are backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports, the ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer will work with all existing USB ports. The ImageMate USB 2.0 provides the ability to write data to and read data from flash memory cards without connecting your digital device (digital camera, handheld computer, digital music player, etc.) directly to a computer. SanDisk's ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer is the fastest way today to transfer pictures, music, data and more to and from your computer.

So you finally bought that new 5- or 6-megapixel digital camera and now you have a 512MB or 1GB compact flash card to hold all those big files. Then you know that USB 1.1 is incredibly slow for transferring files, whether you hook the camera directly to your computer's USB port (and waste your... Read full review »

Pros Inexpensive, works in both USB 1.1 and 2.0 modes.
Cons Could be a little smaller.
Recommended it? Yes

This is an inexpensive and reliable Compact Flash card reader. If your operating system is Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP, there is no need to install drivers as these OS's recognize it immediately when plugged in. It also works on PC's equipped with older USB 1.1 ports although plugging it in to... Read full review »

Pros Reads Nikon files

Recommended it? No

I sure wouldn't use it as a computer drive. I can read reliably from SanDisk CompactFlash cards (128 MB and 512 MB Ultra II), but writing data from a computer is completely unreliable. Many files and directories are corrupted. Frequently the OS hangs and gives "semaphore errors" (whatever that is)... Read full review »
