Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite - An Excellent Alternative to the Natural Pro!

byOpalMan Oct 22, 2001

Pros Ergonomic design can benefit some users
Cons Ergonomic design changes the layout slightly, affecting some users adversely.
Recommended it? Yes

We recently had the opportunity to purchase several new keyboards at work. After a couple months of use, I can report wildly mixed reviews. Most users either love them and won?t give them up or they hate them and demand the old keyboard back. Very few are in the middle ground on these devices... Read full review »

Isn't it time to go natural?

byDrDad Dec 30, 2000
51 Helpfuls 52 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Reduces discomfort associated with typing
Cons Large size; not as helpful if you "hunt-and-peck"
Recommended it? Yes

When I first learned that "natural" was an option, I knew that was the way I wanted to go. When I first tried it I felt all awkward and clumsy, but soon I was actually enjoying the experience. Now, like any good convert, I recommend to all my friends that they go natural too.

Am I talking... Read full review »

Pros Less Strain and Wear on Body, Lets You Get Your Stroking Speed Way Up
Cons There Is A Learning Curve
Recommended it? Yes

Just the other day, feeling optimistic about my successful installation of a new modem, I succumbed to the lure of a nice, new, ergonomically designed, split keyboard. I think I am in love!

WHAT THE BLANK IS A SPLIT KEYBOARD!?

Well, for starters, it is NOT in two pieces! It also... Read full review »

It Messes Me Up

Pros may be good for typing
Cons not for games and people that are use to their style of typing
Recommended it? No

I have a problem with this keyboard mainly because I am not used to it I suppose. I type at about 60 words per minute and this keyboard significantly decreases my speed. It is kind of awkward and I really think that I would like to keep the old model. I am not sure if I would want to learn to type... Read full review »

All keyboards should be made this way...

byvicwang Mar 24, 2000
27 Helpfuls 28 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Faster speed, greater comfort, fewer typing mistakes
Cons Larger than "standard" keyboards
Recommended it? Yes

I find it amusing how many people have an aversion to "split" keyboards such as this one. I actually got mine free when my boss hated it so much (it came with a new system) that he gave it to me and bought another "standard" keyboard instead. Very telling is the fact that he hadn't even TRIED using... Read full review »

Pros Comfortable, helps prevent carpal tunnel, looks cool, has USB connection
Cons Pricey, odd key layout (arrow keys, Home, Insert, etc.)
Recommended it? Yes

I have used the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite at work and the cheap no-name copy at home. The Microsoft keyboard is very comfortable, the pressure you have to apply to the keys is just right. The keyboard not only looks cool, but also helps prevent carpal tunnel.

This keyboard is the... Read full review »

The little keyboard that could

byjatznic Mar 30, 2000

Pros Superb design, very easy on the wrists, prevents CTS
Cons Function and arrow keys very difficult to work with
Recommended it? Yes

The Microsoft Natural elite is a godsend to anyone who types on a frequent basis. This keyboard redefines the definition of comfort and reliability. The key to the comfort of this product is in its wave design. A lot of people will simply refer to this feature as a "Split keyboard".

Having one of these keyboards and enjoying it for a year was not enough to make me think of writing a review about it. However, just last week I built a second computer and decided to AGAIN buy the same keyboard to use with it. So, now I have twins!

Pros Comfortable hand position
Cons more difficult if you don't touch type
Recommended it? Yes

I received my Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite after a while of reminding my husband how much I wanted one of these. While at work, I had gotten one, and I quickly learned that I prefer it to the "regular" keyboard. What is "irregular" about this keyboard is that it is split into two sections, each... Pros its different
Cons weird and inefficient key shapes

After reading several positive reviews on the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite, I promptly went out and bought one...and in the trash it goes.

This keyboard was designed by little green men from Mars and intended for tactilely challenged earthlings who've got a few bucks to spare and a lot... Read full review »
