Mario and Sonic at the Olympics for Nintendo WII - Ready, Set... GOOOOOO!!!!!

bycaptaind Jan 22, 2009
48 Helpfuls 49 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good visuals, great controls, lots of events and variety...
Cons Too many non-skippable bits between events
Recommended it? Yes

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is a great little sports game for the Nintendo Wii starring, as you might have gathered, Mario, Sonic, and a range of other video game characters who've appeared in their games.  The setting is - wait for it - the Olympics (the China 2008 to be precise, not that... Mario & Sonic At The Olympics

byelzora Sep 19, 2008

Pros 20 different games, good graphics, easy to learn, good visual tips for children
Cons Cost, extra controllers are not cheap
Recommended it? Yes

Last year I attended a vision therapy class, and the Dr. giving the class convinced me that hand held video games are not the best for children's vision and eye health.

Since that time, I have been limiting the amount of time that my eight daycare children can spend with my Game Boy games... Read full review »

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - Nintendo Wii

byphungus Jan 29, 2009

Pros Really nice graphics
Cons Too many boring games and filler content
Recommended it? No

There are way too many games for the Nintendo Wii that are just a collection of lame mini-games, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is one of them. Out of all the different Olympic events you can play in this game, many of them play just the same as the other, and only a few of them are... Read full review »

Pros More exercise than we usually get.
Cons Kids and guests may not like the game.
Recommended it? Yes

This game was pretty far down on my wish list, however we came across a used copy in the game store. There were several reasons why I wanted this game.

One of the reasons we chose this game was to have a party game for guests. We do have Mario Party 8, but that seems a little more... Read full review »

Now Compete in the Olympics Year-Round!

bynash704 Jan 29, 2008

Pros Variety of Events, Many Characters, Active Gameplay
Cons Some events are too easy while others are highly difficult
Recommended it? Yes

I consider myself to be in good shape. After all, I compete in Triathlons. And I'm an avid video game player. These two things combined seemed to make Wii Olympics my kind of game. And right I was.

My friend and I rented this and played it continuously for hours the first night. The game... Read full review »

Mario & Sonic = Cool Game

bymikegmi2 Jan 8, 2008

Pros Lots of different events, challenging, good for kids and adults.
Cons Can be difficult at times, sore arm muscles, some events repetative, hard to figure out.
Recommended it? Yes

After playing many games for the Wii and learning the ins and outs of the Wii controllers...this game pushes the limits of what these controllers can do.

Every aspect of the AD accelerometers are put to use in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. From running and jumping over hurdles, to... Read full review »

Olympics is not Wii Sports, but interesting

byjvolzer Dec 23, 2007
17 Helpfuls 18 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Lots of events, multi-player, cute graphics, non-sports side games
Cons Wii remote actions non-intuitive and repetitive, fewer than half events worth playing...
Recommended it? No

I'm reviewing this game after several weekend's worth of game play, having rented it. We don't have an instruction manual. We're a two adult, two kid household.

Olympics can be played by 1 to 4 players. Many of the events use the nunchuck. Some of the ones that do use the nunchuck have an... Read full review »

Overall Fun, but No Provision for Left Handed Players

bymissjen Nov 19, 2007
16 Helpfuls 17 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Extensive playing time, variety of games and skills used, family friendly, multiplayer
Cons No provision for left handers, incomplete/confusing instructions
Recommended it? Yes

We are a two adult, no children household. We look for Wii games that are suitable for many players (we like to have friends over to play), and that are very engaging, and fun. We don't like war/shooter games or games that are too juvenile. We also try to find games that are structured around the... Read full review »

Break a sweat and a few records

Pros Fun and Intuitive, Light Aerobic Workout, Teaches Olympic Game Events
Cons Only has the summer Olympic events, no winter
Recommended it? Yes

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo Wii is a great game for multiple reasons. The game is based on the 2008 summer Olympics, so if you are a fan of the winter Olympics then you may want to look away but if you love the summer Olympic Games and want to participate then you are in... Pros Fun, 4 player, provides arm work out
Cons lots to memorize and remember for controlling.  timely.

My husband and I wanted another game to add to our collection.   We are into action games and enjoyed the sports that came with our Wii.   We also knew we wanted something that required movement (not playing sitting on the couch).     The guy at the game store directed us the Mario and Sonic at the...
