The Bottom Line:
Unless you are on an extremely tight budget, get this keyboard/mouse combination, there is simply nothing better.
The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3100 is hands down, the best keyboard and best mouse I have ever owned. The setup is sleek and stylish, black molded plastic on blue chrome.
The Keyboard:
The keyboard has all the familiar function keys that can be found on most keyboards, but it also has a host of new useful buttons that make computing so much easier. My favorite buttons are the eject button for opening the CD case without fiddling for a button on the computer box. The calculator button conveinently placed next to the 10 key buttons is a godsend as well. The keyboard itself is light, and includes positioning tabs that are well designed to slide out from the sides. it also has a wrist rest that is optional by popping it on or off, I prefer to not use it. The keyboard operates on RF vs the IR that most microsoft keyboards use. the benefits of RF is that the range is much greater, I can be in the other room and the keyboard will still register the keys im pressing, a microsoft keyboard cant be more than 6 feet away and in direct line of sight. Props to logitech for this.
The Mouse:
This is actually the famed MX1000 laser mouse the first mouse to feature laser technology that is so accurate and quick, you wont even know that you are using a wireless mouse. it also is based on RF technology which means its distance and range is considerable. The mouse fits my medium sized hand perfectly. The mouse includes a lithium ion battery, and let me tell you, this battery lasts a LONG TIME. It can sit on your desk for up to 2-3 weeks without charging! I never have had to wait for this mouse to charge because the batteries went out on me. just remember to put it on the charger every once in a while and you will be good. it has an LED visual battery indicator that makes the mouse look pretty bling. The mouse has all types of scrolling and browsing buttons, these buttons are unobtrusive, but there when you need them, you wont accidentaly hit these buttons on accident, but you wont fumble to find the key you need either. The precision of this mouse is incredible, it is excellent for gaming. (Go Half-Life 2). unfortunately as well, laser mice dont have a red glow coming out the bottom either. which may be a good thing or a bad thing. :)
The CHARGING/BASE Station.
The base station is very low profile, allowing for positioning almost anywhere, it looks nice too.
Overall: Logitech has created a choice product. I couldnt go back to anything else. I have no complaints with this product except the logitech logo seems to have rubbed off slightly bit off the mouse after 6 months, but all the color on everything else is great.
