The Bottom Line:
A great coffee maker that's easy to use and easy to clean.
We needed a new coffee maker. We had a very bad habit of making coffee and forgetting to turn off the coffee maker. Our old one didn't have a timer or auto-off, and we really liked the idea of waking up to a fresh pot of coffee being brewed automatically. So we decided to go shopping.
My husband saw this coffee maker and decided this was the one. He loved the chrome look, and the simple design. I wanted something a bit more stylish (it's basically a chrome box with a carafe), but I really liked the features it offered. So we went ahead and bought it.
This coffee maker is very simple to operate. After adding the coffee and water, you adjust your settings. If you are making less than 4 cups, you can set a "1-4 cup setting" which heats the water up hotter so that the coffee brews properly (most coffee makers don't heat the water up enough until you get to cup 5 or so) There is also a carafe temperature setting, so you can set the warmer as warm as you'd like. The on/off switch is a simple lever type switch. The clock display is somewhat small, but the clock and timer are both easy to set using the instruction book. This model also comes with a water filter to help filter impurities from the water. They recommend changing the filter every 2-3 months.
One feature I like is that the coffee maker beeps when the coffee is almost done brewing. This gives you a chance to get out your sugar, creamer, etc. And I love the "1-4 cup" setting since sometimes only one of us wants to drink coffee.
Cleaning wise, this machine is pretty easy to clean. The carafe lid is easy to remove, and I just use a bottle brush to clean the carafe. To clean the base, I just use a damp rag to wipe off any fingerprints or splash marks.
I am very happy with this coffee maker, but I do wish that the opening to pour the water in was a little larger. You have to pour the water in very carefully to keep it from splashing out onto the counter. But, overall we are very pleased with our choice and look forward to purchasing more Cuisinart products in the future.
