Pros High quality text and photo prints, excellent speed, dual paper trays
Cons No parallel port, no USB cable included
Recommended it? Yes

Background
The Canon PIXMA iP4200 replaces the iP4000 and iP3000 in Canon's line of inkjet photo printers, but it does not include any revolutionary new features. What you will get with the iP4200 is a slightly less expensive printer with slightly better quality photo output over its... Read full review »

Pros Printer is inexpensive, fast and prints great looking photos and documents
Cons It guzzles ink cartridges and they're not cheap
Recommended it? Yes

I don't have a lot of needs for my printer, but the needs I have are recurring and important. There's the usual black and white musical lead sheets, coupled with some business letters. Then, there is promotional material for my performing and teaching business. That's a lot of labels and postcards,... Read full review »

Cons High ink cartridge consumption. Nozzle failure problems reported.

This is a well made printer. It is easy to set up. The print quality is excellent in all modes. It operates smoothly and prints standard black ink copies and proofs quickly. The dye-based ink cartridges for the Canon Pixma's tend to be a bit messy, so you have to be careful handling them. The... Read full review »

Cons None of significance

I purchased this printer on clearance at Staples, bundled with a camera (the Powershot A410) for $150 total, so my absolute favorite part of this printer is the price.

At 29ppm black and 20ppm color, this printer does its work quite speedily. I love not having to wait forever for my job... Read full review »

As an amateur photographer, I had been thinking for a while of getting a photo inkjet printer. The question became whether to get a general purpose printer with photo printing features, or a good text printer (perhaps a cheap laser printer) and a photo inkjet (the Epson PictureMate Deluxe as an... This Review is for the Canon Pixma iP4200

Printer was purchased in June 2006 in HONG KONG. It is now December 2006.
I have only used original Canon ink cartridges. They cost about 12 USD each over here.

The printer does a nice job printing photos and recently beat my wife’s 4... Read full review »

About seven months ago I started searching for a new printer. I came on Epinions and found that (at the time) every review just LOVED the iP4200. Separate ink cartridges... double sided printing... Canon... what a deal!

So I went down and bought one for about 130.00, unfortunately I... Read full review »

Overall I'm very pleased with the quality and speed of this printer. One huge complaint I have and this has been confirmed by others as well, is that the printer software will warn that the printer cartridge is out of ink, I take it out snap it back in (the same cartridge) and it will print another...
